I was blown away by this birth and the love that I was able to witness. I had the incredible opportunity this past fall to video a birth for Homegrown Babies, which is an amazing group of women working to support Mama’s and their families through pregnancy to parenthood here in Asheville NC.
It was such an incredible birth. I met Corina and Brad at their home so we could include some images of her laboring at home and have their sweet boy present for some of it. After being there for only about 20 minutes though, we knew it was time to head to the hospital because things were happening pretty quickly!
Beautiful Mama! Sweet friends made this headpiece for her to wear with beautiful flowers and even part of the newborn hat from her older son! After a quick check in they were able to move into their room and were met by their amazing doula, Chama. (This woman has found her calling in life. She is actually a miracle worker!) I love this image of support and the quiet strength in Mama.
I think my favorite part of documenting this birth was the love between Corina and Brad. It was so apparent in the way they cared for one another. Encouraging words, soft touches, stolen glances and smiles. It was truly beautiful and inspiring. So much strength and love and courage wrapped up in this sweet Mama.Time for some skin to skin with Dad!Brad was just so tender with Mama and this sweet little one. I love that we were able to document that! Finally, back in Mama’s arms.See what I mean about their love?!One day old.
I ended up coming back the next day to capture some images of big brother meeting this little guy. It was really special to witness. And I feel pretty confident that they will be good buddies!Corina and Brad, it was truly an honor to be welcomed into your space to document this sweet experience! I am a better person having witnessed the way you care for each other and for your boys!
Stay tuned! The video is next up!
